Course Credit
Academic Credit: UC Davis Extension offers some courses for academic credit, which is given in quarter units and represents graded nondegree work. Coursework may not be repeated for credit unless it is specifically stated in the course description.
UC Davis Extension does not offer degree programs; however, some UC Davis Extension courses offered for academic credit may be applied toward degree programs. Students who wish to petition to apply a UC Davis Extension course toward a degree should verify acceptance of the course with the institution before enrolling. Such approval will usually only be granted for a limited number of credits in accordance with the individual college or university policy. Regularly enrolled University of California students should consult the dean of the appropriate school or college to verify the number of units that will or will not be accepted for a particular course.
UC Davis Extension courses are not accepted as part of the residence requirements of the University and cannot be used to transfer from one University of California campus to another. Grades earned in UC Davis Extension courses are not used in calculating University of California grade point averages.
Noncredit: Noncredit courses are those without academic credit, but may be offered for continuing education units (CEUs). CEUs are a nationally recognized means of recording noncredit study. One CEU is awarded for each 10 hours of scheduled class time. A notation of noncredit (NC) appears under the grade designation and the number of classroom hours is recorded.
For all noncredit courses that do not offer CEUs, a grade designation of NC appears on the transcripts and grade reports, but the number of classroom hours are not recorded. Attendance confirmations for these classes are only sent upon request by the student.
