Principles of Financial Accounting
Examine accounting theory, principles and practice. Learn about accrual account concepts, transaction analysis, recording and processing (journals and ledgers) methods. Gain an in-depth understanding of the preparation and analysis of financial statements (income statements, balance sheets and cash-flow statements); sales and cost of sales; inventory valuation; depreciation of operational assets; accounting for investments; and liability and present value concepts.
This course fulfills one of the three prerequisites for the UC Davis School of Management’s Master of Professional Accountancy Program.
Monique Smalling, MBA, CPA,has taught accounting and auditing courses at the university level for more than seven years. She started her career with an international accounting firm. She has also worked as an SEC reporting manager for a publicly traded software company, a controller for a private golf club and a senior audit manager for a local CPA firm. Her area of expertise is preparing financial statements and presenting them to board of directors and audit committees.
