Ethics in the Workplace
Heighten your awareness and understanding of ethical issues in the workplace. Learn to avoid the slippery slope of an unethical work environment and gain a conceptual framework and practical strategies for making ethical and effective business decisions. You will learn when and where ethical issues are most likely to surface and how to maintain your integrity. You will also gain an understanding of the impact of cultural and organizational pressures to conform, and explore a variety of ethical decision-making models. Business experience and case studies form the core of this highly interactive course in which you will evaluate possible courses of action and respond to challenging situations.
Rachel Choppin, M.A.,principal of HR 4 You, has more than 20 years of experience facilitating professional growth and change management on three continents. She is a highly-rated instructor at UCLA Extension and a frequent speaker and facilitator at corporate retreats and various business associations. Choppin has successfully hired, coached, trained and transitioned hundreds of professionals. She is currently a professional development chair for the Professionals in Human Resources Association and a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.
Joshua Kob is an attorney whose experience includes working with the Service Employees International Union (Local 1000) on behalf of California state employees. He has also represented public school teachers on issues relating to discrimination, discipline, layoffs, teacher tenure and numerous other issues pertaining to the California Education Code. Currently, Kob is employed by the California Teachers Association as a staff representative, where he provides support and advice to public school teachers on issues relating to wages, hours and working conditions.

Certain elements of this class will be conducted online. You must have a computer with access to the Internet and an email account in order to complete this course. If you plan to access an online course using an iPad, iPod or an iPhone there are a variety of Flash web browsers available in the App Store that can enable your iPad/iPod/iPhone to view Flash content.
