As we celebrate the 35th birthday of the UC Davis Executive Program, President Kennedy’s words ring truer than ever. The world is becoming increasingly complex, and constant change challenges our ability to remain focused, determined and vigorous. Becoming a better leader is the only option for continued success.
Effective leaders take three journeys: within, to discover their potential and develop strengths; without, to understand challenges; and beyond the horizon, to adjust for opportunities yet to come. Without up-to-date maps and accomplished guides, such voyages are perilous at best. Indeed, many promising careers have ended badly, sometimes disastrously, because the maps used to chart strategies were inadequate and the instrumentation rudimentary and dated.
With 35 years of experience in preparing leaders for these three critical journeys, the UC Davis Executive Program knows how to prepare you for professional and personal success. As author John A. Shedd stated, “A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.” The UC Davis Executive Program invites you to leave the safety of your customary harbor, set aside your preconceived notions, and go beyond what you thought achievable.
