Applied Behavior Analysis Strategies and Interventions for Autism Spectrum Disorders- Chico


The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development lists applied behavior analysis among the recommended treatment methods for autism spectrum disorders. Gain a general understanding of applied behavior analysis principles and how they can be used in an educational environment to teach various skills and support student behavior. Examine such strategies as positive reinforcement, teaching of functional-equivalent replacement behaviors, shaping, prompting, errorless learning, discrete trial teaching, as well as other naturalistic behavioral strategies. Apply the concepts and principles you learn in class through role playing and other hands-on activities.

Please note: This course will take place in Chico.

Instructor(s):

Gail Cafferata, B.A., Is a program specialist in Butte County SELPA. She is the lead program specialist for all preschool autism programs and the lead trainer for functional behavioral assessments and analysis, positive behavior intervention plans and quality evaluations of behavior plans. Cafferatta has taught in public education for almost thirty years and has experience with students from preschool to college age. She has also worked with students with a wide variety of special needs, including autism, severe handicaps, emotional disturbances and behavioral challenges.

Jan. 22-23, Feb. 19-20 & March 19-20: Fri., 6-9 p.m. & Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Fee:

$615.00 ($645.00 if postmarked after 01/08/2010).

Special Discount fee:
