About our Programs

Environmental, Health and Safety Programs at UC Davis Extension

Environmental, Health and Safety comprises three areas of study: health and safety programs, emergency management, and courses on environmental regulations, particularly in the area of hazardous substances.

Health and Safety

We offer the premier training in the region to help you stay up to date on workplace health and safety. Through individual courses, or our certificate or professional concentration, learn new skills to create and maintain a safer work environment that complies with state and federal laws and regulations. The Certificate Program in Workplace Health and Safety is designed to expand and improve the practical abilities of those responsible for employee health and safety. Our courses examine critical safety, health and environmental issues confronting private business, industry and government, and provide the training necessary for managing a proactive health and safety program.

Emergency Management

A field closely related to health and safety, our emergency management courses range from response to hazardous materials incidents (often held through customized training) to federally mandated courses on the National Incident Management System and the State Emergency Management System (CA.) Our online learning CAMEO class is available to students online, and is a great resource for learning the CAMEO suite.

Environmental

Several courses keep students abreast of the constantly changing field of environmental regulations. An annual update course is offered, along with hazardous waste generator, site clean-up and hazardous materials transportation courses. We also offer hazardous waste worker courses that meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 and California Title 29 CCR 5192 (HAZWOPER).
