Fire Department Health and Safety

Fire departments are no longer exempt from penalties and fines from Cal OSHA for noncompliance. In order to avoid these fines, supervisors need to be aware of the health and safety regulations that relate to Fire departments. While the traditional Fire Department Safety Program focused primarily on incident safety, a current program must cover the full scope of safety issues and all areas of employee risk including wellness programs, ergonomics, accident investigation, food safety, mold mitigation, safety committees, facility inspections and more. This class is designed to introduce the wide range of activities required for a comprehensive safety program, and provide the student with a foundation to develop such a program within their agency.
