Historic Resources Preservation


Learn how historic preservation can benefit your community or development projects. Gain an understanding of key historic preservation laws and policies that affect land development. Examine how historic preservation is being utilized as an asset for community revitalization by many public agencies, as well as for successful commercial and residential projects by private developers. Explore practical issues involved with implementation, and learn about California's historic preservation requirements under the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act.

Instructor(s):

Dana McGowan is a principal and cultural resources business group leader with substantial experience in directing cultural resource inventory, evaluation, and mitigation projects throughout California and the West.  McGowan meets the Secretary of the Interior's guidelines for professional qualifications to conduct archaeological studies and has 20 years of experience in prehistoric and historic archaeology.  She is certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists.
