LEED Building Certification

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Rating Systems in building design and construction (LEED BD&C) version 3.0 went into effect in spring of 2009.  LEED BD&C combines three previous LEED rating systems: LEED-NC for new construction and major renovations, LEED for schools, and LEED-CS for core and shell. Gain an in-depth understanding of the new LEED BD&C rating systems, the process to document and obtain certification and prepare to take accreditation exams. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, these green building rating systems are the building industry's leading environmental standard. Explore the following:

  • LEED BD&C version 3.0 (2009)
  • LEED O&M (operations and maintenance)
  • LEED ID&C (interior design and construction)
  • LEED for homes
  • LEED for neighborhood development

Learn the process of registering, documenting and certifying LEED BD&C projects using LEED-Online as well as other standards, application guides and resources. To help visualize building elements that contribute to LEED certification, you will review case studies, local project examples and tour at least one local LEED-certified building. Please note: This is not a USGBC-sponsored class.
