Professional Concentration in Website Design
The key to creating a successful website is understanding the right process, goals, organizational framework, interface design and browser and platform issues. Successful web designers know how to write their own code, use visual authoring software and create dynamic web graphics. All of the courses in the program are available online, so you can complete the entire certificate online.

We recommend that you are familiar with Windows operating system and have knowledge of and experience using the Internet.
Professional Concentration requirements
Courses may be taken individually or as part of the professional concentration. This program is designed for those wanting to develop a solid foundation in website design. It is a great way to fill any gap in your previous training, develop a new area or to stay on top of developments in the field. Upon successful completion of the 12 required course units and submission of the form and fee, you will receive a Professional Concentration Certificate. Tuition for the entire Professional Concentration in Website Design is $3,620. The certificate application fee ($45), textbooks and any required software are not included in the tuition fee.

Design
and build your own professional and attractive web pages. Learn
the basics of hypertext markup language (HTML), how to code in HTML and how to work
with HTML editors. Discover how to construct your own web pages by
using the concepts involved with CSS and XHTML, including such fundamentals as lists, menus,
hyperlinks, images, forms, tables, frames and other customizable parts. Explore the creation and
production processes involved in website development by examining web
interface technologies and their applications.

Adobe Photoshop Extended

Whether you are a Photoshop beginner or just looking to brush up your image-editing skills, this user-friendly course will give your photos professional polish. Learn to use color correction and colorizing techniques that make your photos pop. Optimize and prepare images for four-color output with Photoshop's powerful enhancement tools. Scan images and produce composites to create compelling collages and eye-catching images, and produce an effortless magazine layout for your final project. Previous versions of Photoshop will be touched upon as well as the current CS series.

Web Animation with FLASH

Create interactive experiences using the latest FLASH software. Express your creative vision and attention to detail and design pixel-perfect interactive content with exceptional typography, flexible layouts and incredibly smooth animation. Use vector graphics to create and animate your banners, logos and illustrations to bring interactivity and style to your web page without having to script languages. Learn how to employ Adobe Flash software to control user events, design and interactivity. Develop cross-platform web applications and content with an integrated development environment that offers intelligent ActionScript coding tools. Wow your audience and produce engaging, rich video content and interactivity that contains expressive, lifelike motion and animation. This course uses the current software Flash CS5.

Layout Design for the Web
2 quarter units academic credit, X499.26.
Today the Web
is the ultimate tool for creative expression. Construct your web pages with key
conceptual elements of design in mind, including strong visual dialogue and
essential visual, relational and practical components. Using design
principles, learn basic theories of layout—white space, typography, line
weight, proportion, grid, interval and color theory. Create sophisticated, high
quality, aesthetically pleasing visual messages with an emphasis on web design
considerations, including file formats.

Dreamweaver
2 quarter units academic credit, X499.21.
Design, develop and maintain standards-based websites and
applications with Adobe Dreamweaver CS5. Utilize powerful visual CSS
tools and ready-built templates, and test your pages quickly and
accurately. Design visually or directly in code, develop pages with
content management systems and accurately test browser compatibility.
Using Dreamweaver features learn the basic concepts of web design to
create a site of your own, incorporating text and graphics, HTML tags,
cascading style sheets, rollovers, tables, navigation bars, forms and
rich media.
