Specialized Studies Program in Website Design
The key to creating a successful website is understanding the right process, goals, organizational framework, interface design and browser and platform issues. Successful web designers know how to write their own code, use visual authoring software and create dynamic web graphics. All of the courses in the program are available online, so you can complete the entire certificate online.

Prerequisite
We recommend that you complete Essentials of Computer Technology or have equivalent knowledge and experience prior to enrolling in this certificate program.
Specialized Studies Program requirements
Courses may be taken individually or as part of the specialized studies program. This program is designed for those wanting to develop a solid foundation in website design. It is a great way to fill any gap in your previous training, develop a new area or to stay on top of developments in the field. Upon successful completion of the 12 required course units and submission of the form and fee, you will receive a Specialized Studies Certificate. Tuition for the entire Website Design Specialized Studies Program is $3,255-$3,975 depending on prerequisites. The certificate application fee ($45) and textbooks are not included in the tuition fee.

Creating Functional Websites
3 quarter units academic credit, X481.5.
Design and build your own professional and attractive web pages. Learn hypertext markup language (HTML), how to code in HTML and how to work with HTML editors. Discover how to construct your own web pages by using basic HTML tags, including such fundamentals as lists, menus, hyperlinks, images, forms, tables and frames. Explore the creation and production processes involved in website development by examining web interface technologies and their applications. Discover how graphic design, information architecture and interface design relate to the process of conveying information to a targeted audience via the Internet.Prerequisites:
Internet Architecture and Services, or equivalent knowledge.

Layout Design for the Web
2 quarter units academic credit, X499.26.
Today the Web
is the ultimate tool for creative expression. Construct your web pages with key
conceptual elements of design in mind, including strong visual dialogue and
essential visual, relational and practical components. Using design
principles, learn basic theories of layout—white space, typography, line
weight, proportion, grid, interval and color theory. Create sophisticated, high
quality, aesthetically pleasing visual messages with an emphasis on web design
considerations, including file formats.

Web Animation with FLASH
2 quarter units academic credit, X499.222.
Add
animation and rev up your website using FLASH, one of the standards for web
animation. Using vector graphics to create and animate your banners,
logos and
illustrations can bring interactivity and style to your web page
without the
use of scripting languages. From step one to finished product, learn to use this Macromedia product to
control
user events, design and interactivity.

Adobe Photoshop
3 quarter units academic credit, X430.22A.
Transform your
photographs into works of art. Whether you’re a Photoshop beginner or just
looking to brush up your image-editing skills, this user-friendly course will give
your photos professional polish. Learn to use color correction and colorizing
techniques that make your photos pop. Optimize and prepare images for
four-color output with Photoshop's powerful enhancement tools. Scan images
and produce composite pictures to create compelling collages and eye-catching
images. Incorporate styles such as drop shadows and beveled text.

Become a Web wizard with Adobe Dreamweaver MX, the professional choice for building websites and applications. This WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web page development software is both powerful and easy to use. Using Dreamweaver, learn the basic elements of web design, incorporating basic graphic design elements, hyperlinks, cascading style sheets, rollovers, tables and navigation bars and frames. Then upload your site to your server.Prerequisites:
