Your Bridge to Campus, to Academics, to Success
The Bridge Program is an academic study program that offers the opportunity for international students to enroll in undergraduate courses in a wide variety of fields at the University of California, Davis—one of the major research universities in the United States. Bridge students earn University of California credit for the coursework they complete satisfactorily. It is the perfect way to live the UC Davis experience and earn credits that can be applied to degree requirements at universities around the world.
This flexible program is designed to meet individual student needs through enrollment in a combination of course offerings. The program follows the quarterly academic schedule of campus—10 weeks of class followed by a week of exams—throughout the year. Students enroll through the International English and Professional Programs at UC Davis Extension.
How many classes can I take?
Students who apply with iBT scores of 79 or higher and no subscores under 21 qualify for up to 12 units (full-time study). They will be tested for writing to determine access to campus writing courses.
Students without current iBT, PBT or CBT scores may take a placement test in order to demonstrate their English proficiency upon arrival at UC Davis. Those students who do not test at the advanced level will be advised to take the Intensive English Program as part of the Bridge Program. Those testing at the advanced level are then given individual counseling on how to construct a program that best suits their needs and academic background.
Bridge students have a choice of course offerings in nearly all of the colleges and departments of the university, as well as all courses offered at UC Davis Extension. As with all UC Davis students, enrollment in any course is on a space-available basis. Courses completed bear full UC Davis or UC Davis Extension academic credit. Students from universities abroad should check with their home university for its transfer credit policies. Students may enroll on a quarter-by-quarter basis—at a very reasonable cost.
Who can enroll in the Bridge Program?
The Bridge Program is designed to meet the needs of university-level students and professionals from around the world who have strong English language skills and excellent academic preparation and who wish to take courses in their academic fields of specialization.
