Housing

The International English and ProfessionalPrograms is pleased to offer four housing providers.

Option I: WISE Homestay

The Foundation for Worldwide International Student Exchange (WISE) arranges for our international students to live with an American family. The family provides a private room with a bed, dresser and desk, plus two or three meals a day. This experience is a wonderful way to learn about U.S. customs and American food, participate in family celebrations and practice everyday English. Families who welcome international students into their homes not only want to share their way of life with the students, but also want to learn about the students' homes and cultures. Many students consider the experiences with “their family” the most memorable part of their stay in Davis and neighboring communities and keep in touch with their American host parents for many years. Please contact Shannon Johnson of WISE at shannon@wisefoundation.com, by phone at (530) 406-1330, fax (530) 406-1315 or visit http://wise.wisefoundation.com.

Option II: ISP Shared Housing Program

International Student Placements (ISP) takes pride in providing students with a quality program with excellent housing choices and support during their stay.

The ISP Shared Housing Program provides a less expensive alternative by offering students the opportunity to live in local homes that have been converted to student housing. Lease terms are for a minimum of 10 months. In some cases, students share a bedroom with another student. All students share a community bathroom, kitchen and study area. We cannot guarantee that you will have a private or shared bedroom. In some cases, landlords do live in the units. Please contact Robert Green at robert@isphomestays.com or by phone at (650) 947-8879. You can also visit http://isphomestays.com.

Placement Fees*
$435 placement fee
$800 monthly rent (two meals per day)
$650 monthly rent (no meals)
$100 airport pickup fee

The demand for shared housing is extremely high and space is limited, so please check with ISP for availability.

Option III: Dormitories (Summer quarter only)

Dormitories (conveniently located near the UC Davis campus) are often open to IEPP students during the summer. Students share a room with one other student. Rooms come equipped with two beds, dressers and desks. Meals are provided in the campus dining halls, and membership at the Activities and Recreation Center is included. Please contact us at for availability. Price is approximately $60 per night for a shared room and meal plan. Prices are subject to change, and there is limited availability. Students will be accommodated in the order in which the housing application fee is received; to ensure a place, send housing placement fee with program application fee. See program application fee information.

Placement fees*
$200 for more than four weeks
$100 for two to four weeks

Option IV: Renting a Room in a Private House or Apartment

Many Davis families and student groups rent out rooms in their own homes for approximately $450-$650 per month. Renting a room is an excellent opportunity to live with others who are not part of the International Programs. Students can make these arrangements on their own once they arrive in Davis. For a preview of what might be available, check the "Community Housing Listing," offered by the Associated Students of UC Davis at http://chl.ucdavis.edu (click on "view our listings") or on Craigslist at http://sacramento.craigslist.org/.

* Prices subject to change.
