Dispute Resolution in International Commerce and Investment

The exponential growth of international trade over the past few years has led to an increase in the number of disputes that arise in connection with commerce and investment. International attorneys are faced with numerous challenges and issues that require dispute resolution skills. Join attorneys from around the globe for this intensive, two-week seminar that will provide new perspectives and tools for dispute resolution in international commerce and investment. Topics will include:

Lectures will be conducted in English by faculties of law from the University of Cologne, the University of California, Davis and Indiana University. Participation of attorneys and other professionals from around the world provides a unique opportunity for discussion of a wide variety of views from many different legal perspectives.

Certificates and credit

  • The seminar qualifies for continuing legal education (CLE) credit in New York and California.
  • All participants will receive a certificate of attendance if they attend class regularly. Participants who wish to take the course for credit can request an official transcript upon successful completion of course requirements and a final exam.
  • Academic credit from any of these programs may be applied toward the part-time summer International Commercial Law LL.M. and/or the Licentiate in International Transactions Involving the United States.

Application fee (non-refundable): US $150
Academic tuition: US $2,750
Course materials: US $100

Enroll by April 15, 2008 and receive a $100 discount. We strongly recommend enrolling and confirming travel and hotel reservations as soon as possible.

Participants are responsible for reservation, confirmation and payment of hotel rooms.

For your convenience, rooms are being held at the Esplanade Hotel (located close to the DIS) until May 1, 2008. If you wish to stay at this hotel, contact them and confirm with a personal credit card. Be aware that cancellation fees may apply if cancellation occurs after certain dates. Please inform the hotel that you are a UC Davis participant in the International Commercial Law Seminar at the DIS.
