Choosing Wisely: Taking Action as Consumers to Avoid Unnecessary Treatments

The rising costs of health care impact individual patients and our healthcare system. Right now, national efforts are underway to promote conversations between healthcare professionals and their patients to help them choose care that is supported by evidence—not duplicative of other tests or procedures already received—free of harm and truly necessary. This course will provide you with the necessary tools to have these important conversations with your healthcare provider, inform you about national efforts led by organizations representing medical specialists to prevent harm to patients and explore your role as a citizen in our healthcare system.
