Gain practical experience in managing emergency situations, and learn to respond effectively in crisis situations. Examine the management techniques common to all emergency situations, including natural disaster, fires, and mass medical and hazardous materials incidents. Simulations and opportunities to form small incident command groups and to solve industrial emergency problems based on actual case histories are included. 

Discussions cover effective emergency planning, legal responsibilities, administrative notifications, government response plans and agencies, incident commands systems as an emergency management tool, crisis management skills, decision-making under pressure, effective communication techniques, and media and public relations. Emergency coordinators and those who direct emergency response teams will benefit from this course.

This is an elective course in the Workplace Health and Safety Certificate Program.
