Construction is the most hazardous occupation in California and falls from elevations are the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry. The California Construction Safety Orders have many different requirements for fall protection for various trades and job functions, requiring different types of fall protection at different heights. In addition, there are numerous types of fall protection methods such as guardrails, fall arrest systems, fall restraint and safety nets and even more alternative methods to reduce fall hazards such as manlifts and scaffolds.

This class is designed to unravel the mystery of fall protection safety orders and discuss types of fall protection and other methods to reduce fall hazards. This will allow you to know when fall protection is needed and how to protect employees from devastating falls. The discussion will go beyond what is required by safety orders and discuss best practices in fall protection. This course is an elective in the Workplace Health and Safety Certificate Program.
