Introduction to Fall Birds of Northern California

The diversity of birds in California is greater than in any other state or province in North America. Observe these remarkable creatures in this course designed for novice to intermediate birders. Discover the fascinating natural history and ecology of Northern California's birds and learn to identify birds in the wild.

Three field trips are designed to include the major bird habitats of central California, including:

  • The woodlands and lakes of the coastal ranges
  • The bays and beaches of the coast
  • The grasslands, marshes and wetlands of the Central Valley

The lecture preceding each field trip focuses on the ecology of the habitats and the birds we expect to observe.
