Jacksonian America: Part 2

In this class, we will continue to analyze the impacts of the Age of Jackson on the United States. Part one focused on Jackson’s background and rise to power, along with the men he competed for power with (Clay, Adams, Calhoun). Part two will look at the issues these men faced during Jackson’s two terms in power. This includes America’s evolving policy toward native tribes, the spoils system, the nullification crisis and the bank wars of the period. We will also look at the defining characteristics of American society during this period that led to Jackson’s dominance and how these compare to our age since the election of Donald Trump.
