Supervisory Skills: Series II

Essential knowledge for supervisors and managers

Expand your ability to motivate, manage and communicate. These half-day courses examine current best practices and build a strong supervisory foundation. Spend the morning enhancing particular skill areas, and return to your workplace for the remainder of the day, ready to put into practice what you’ve learned.

Series II is comprised of five, half-day sessions that each cover a key focus area and are designed to stand alone. This allows you the flexibility to enroll in the complete series or select the individual sessions that are most relevant to your needs. Earn 4.0 CEUs and receive a certificate of program completion upon finishing Series I & II.

Juggling Multiple Priorities
Acquire the skills to separate urgent and important responsibilities, and learn to manage priorities. Learn to establish SMART goals and minimize ineffective habits.

Developing Your Team
Improve your ability to remove barriers to effective teamwork. Acquire techniques for assessment and team building and discover how you can move teams toward greater productivity.

Solutions Focused Thinking
Apply core Solutions Focused Thinking principles to make yourself feel more confident, positive, and empowered when managing issues in the workplace. Learn how to coach direct reports and larger teams to help them find their own solutions.

Coaching Employees
Learn to build trust and increase performance through coaching. Examine how to facilitate communication and guide staff appropriately to meet organizational goals.

iGen and U: Leading in a Cross-Generational Workforce

Have you heard of Generation Z, or iGen, yet? They are coming to a workplace near you soon and some of us are still working on figuring out how to lead Millennials! Some of us are Millennials working on figuring out how to lead the generations prior to us and now a new one is coming. Research says that generational spans are shrinking, which means there will be a greater number of generations in the workplace than ever before. In this class you will learn about the various generations in the workplace, and how as a leader you can meet their various needs while still achieving organizational goals and creating a high-performing team.

Principles of Supervision and Management
Examine your role as a supervisor and identify your own leadership style. Improve upon your core skills and acquire techniques to enhance your ability to lead.

Delegating for Results
Acquire the skills to delegate effectively and increase your productivity by challenging and motivating your staff. Learn to give clear direction and develop confidence in assigning tasks and projects.

Building a Motivated Workplace
Learn to create a motivating environment by gaining a better understanding of the essentials that increase the likelihood people will want to participate, give extra effort and take an active interest in outcomes.

Working Through Conflict
Become adept at effectively handling difficult situations and developing positive outcomes. Determine the difference between healthy and unhealthy conflict, learn when to get involved and the specific steps you should take to achieve to win-win resolutions.

Communication Skills at Work
Focus on active listening and learn to establish rapport. Gain the ability to convey key information, ideas and enthusiasm to others.
