Health and Safety Refresher for Hazardous Waste Workers - 8 Hours


This course provides hazardous waste-site employees and supervisors with the annual refresher training in health and safety for hazardous waste workers. Current topics include: chemical and oil spill cleanup, animal feeding operations, personal safety and urban survival, marijuana gardens, biological hazards, heavy equipment, heat illness prevention and heavy metals. New case studies and exercises accompany each module. This course meets requirements established by OSHA for training under the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) 29 CFR 1910.120(e) (8) and the equivalent California Standard T8 CCR 5192 (e) (8). Participants should first complete the 40-Hour Health and Safety Training for Hazardous Waste Workers.

Section Notes

This is an online, remote learning course, which consists of content and curriculum that is taught with pre-recorded and real time lectures, in addition to real-time lecture/Q&A sessions with the instructors. Pre-recorded lectures and live sessions are accessed via our Canvas learning system and Zoom.

This course opens November 8 with a live session on November 9, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm PST.

We allow registration through the first morning of the course. We cannot extend course access beyond 11:59 PM on Wednesday 11/10, so students pursuing a late enrollment acknowledge that they will have less time to complete the materials. Please contact the course representative with any questions.

Enrollment Policies
