Resiliency

Recovered Forest

Natural disasters, such as fires, flooding and heatwaves are on the rise in California, creating both singular and chronic stresses on our communities. The human and economic impacts these disasters cause has forced state and local leaders to adapt in how we anticipate, respond to, recover from and thrive in the face of this growing issue. This is resilience.

The purpose of our Resiliency courses is to examine lessons from the past, explore current strategies and best practices, and empower planners, business owners and members of the general public with the tools and knowledge to create more resilient communities. These classes will cover a variety of topics, including the historical aspect of natural disasters in California and our nation, planning approaches, recovery life cycles, state and federal coordination, evacuation considerations for people, pets and livestock and much more.
